The Ashram
In the year 1990, His Holiness Paramahamsa Srimath Bhuvaneswari Swamigal was able to fulfil his dream of constructing Sri Yohamaya Bhuvaneshwari Peetam, Sri Bharadwaj Ashram in Ambattur, Chennai. Sri Yohamaya Bhuvaneshwari is worshipped as the presiding deity. The idol of the Goddess Supreme is made of Panchaloka and is handcrafted according to His Holiness’s instructions.
The idol of the Goddess is consecrated atop a snake nest, which is considered very auspicious in Hinduism. During the consecration ceremony, the Prana Prathishta ritual was carried out using water from seven different seas and rivers, as well as sand from various Bhakti sthalas across India. This includes sand from the holy land Indraprastha from where Bhagavadgita Upasana originated.
The uniqueness of the Supreme Deity Lalitha Tripurasundari in the form of Sri Yohamaya Bhuvaneshwari is that the energies inside the sanctum are enhanced by Thithi Nithya Yantras. The Maha Meru (three dimensional representation of Sri Chakra) installed near the lotus feet of Sri Yohamaya Bhuvaneswari is symbolic of the cosmos. Sri Yohamaya Bhuvaneswari is a visual marvel as the Yantra (Sri Chakra) placed under the deity and the Gopuram on top act as the umbilical cord that breathe life into the idol.
The heavenly courtroom of the Divine Goddess (Ambal) is enhanced by the presence of a Sphatika Lingam, Varahi and Bala Tripura Sundari Sri Bharadwaj Ashram is named after one of the most revered Sapta Rishis – Bharadwaj Rishi. An idol of Bharadwaj Rishi is consecrated at the eastern entrance. The Ashram is home to a 27ft Vishwaroopa statue of Mahavishnu at the entrance, an 18ft Ashta Daja Buja Durga idol, and a naturally formed Bana Linga with Swarna Rekhai from the beds of the Narmada River.
The Mani Mandapam of Paramahsa Bhuvaneswari Swamigal faces the east entrance of the Ashram. It was constructed after the Siddhi of His Holiness in 2004 as it was His last wish to never part from His most beloved Divine Mother. The structure is adorned with the Shiva Linga and Meru that His Holiness worshipped throughout his lifetime. His Holiness has merged with the Lord Paramashiva and continues to bless all his disciples and devotees eternally.
